With over 8 years of specialized experience in Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility (IRF) coding, Tonya brings a comprehensive understanding of rehabilitation coding across multiple health systems, IRF types, and electronic health record (EHR) systems. This diverse experience has provided a strong ability to adapt to varying documentation practices, workflows, organizational structures, and coding environments.

Tonya has extensive practice in coding rehab charts, auditing rehab coders, managing large teams of specialized rehab coders, training new coders on the fundamentals of rehab coding, and elevating experienced rehab coders to a better level of understanding of the rehab coding principles and complexities. She has provided education and training to not only coders but also PPS Coordinators, physicians, and admissions liaisons to ensure compliance and best practices for documentation in the inpatient rehab setting.

As a Rehab/IRF Coding Consultant, Tonya combines hands-on IRF coding expertise with a strong desire to educate, providing a detailed understanding of clinical documentation, ICD-10-CM coding, IRF-PAI requirements, and the unique complexities of rehabilitation coding.
